Dear new colleague
Thank you for choosing IFA as your workplace. You will most likely hear the acronym “IFA” many times. It is short for “Institut for Fysik og Astronomi”, which means Department of Physics and Astronomy. There may be other abbreviations and things in general, which you will be uncertain of in the beginning. That is completely natural. This is the reason why we have prepared this page with useful information about IFA, as well as references to other topics.
If you have any practical questions, IFA´a Secretariat will also be able to answer. You are also more than welcome to stop by my office (1520-519, that is building 1520, 5th floor, down the hall) if you have any questions, comments or suggestions.
IFA is a wonderful place with incredibly competent employees in all functions, from associate professors and professors to secretaries, precision mechanics and laboratory technicians. We help each other as a team, with the primary goal of being a top class research and education institution, both nationally and internationally. Throughout many years, this goal has been reached, because everybody at IFA has a burning passion for what they do. I am sure that your new colleagues will greet you with open arms, and that you will have a pleasant start at IFA!
Best regards
Ulrik I. Uggerhøj
Head of Department
